Donor Screening and Eligibility Criteria 

At Central Egg Bank, all donors undergo rigorous health screening to be eligible for donation.  The standard health screens which are completed prior to their donation involves various blood and urine tests for infectious diseases and to ensure the health of the donor.

Whilst it is important to prioritise high quality egg donors through health, infectious and genetic screening, we also ensure that each egg donor meets other defined criteria to be eligible to donate.

Oocyte donors should be between the ages of 21 and 30

Proven Fertility – All Central Egg Bank donors are mothers themselves

Donors should be healthy and are screened to confirm if they are carriers of a hereditary condition

A complete personal and sexual history is obtained to eliminate potential donors who maybe at a high risk of infections that might be transmissable via egg donation

All donors must undergo significant routine health, infectious and genetic screening as part of their eligibility criteria

All donors undergo a detailed physical examination, this includes a pelvic exam, involving a scan for ovarian assessment and antral follicle count

7

All donors receive an appropriate genetic assessment based on their medical history in accordance with their ethnicity and current guidelines

8

Psychological assessment and implications counselling by a qualified mental health professional is mandatory

9

Oocyte donors are ‘ID Release’, meaning any offspring from donor eggs has the right to apply for the identifying information of their donor at the age 16-18 depending on state legislation
